The heat is on

Geh.
The weekend was not as it was intended to be - we missed a dinner and the cleaning lady we hired for my dad's house had vehicle problems, so Dad's place is still The Place Where Dust Goes To Retire. I believe that house hasn't had a complete and thorough cleaning since my mom died in 1995. It will be cleaned someday, but we will have to deal with the filth for a while longer.
That being said, I have FOs. These are the only pictures I have, and they were taken quickly whilst The Bug slept in the car (with the AC on, I'm not nuts, but still) so I make no guarantees about their quality.

One Hogwarts sock. If this picture sucks, we can blame my photography skills, because I had plenty of time with this one.



The second sock has been cast on, and I hope to churn this puppy out THIS WEEK. I am running out of time since they should be in the mail this weekend, and I have to knit the Sockapalooza socks to be sent shortly thereafter. I do believe I will opt out of future knitting swaps. I should have had plenty of time with the Hogwarts socks (and by extension, the palooza socks) but I stressed out so deeply about the perfect pattern and yarn that I piddled all my time away, and now I'm feeling the pressure. Sigh. Spinning and all projects for me are on hold until these lovelies are finished and mailed. Alas, because here is some temptation.

This weekend, after his bath, the Bug found a way to keep cool.


The coating of soap and the last bit of water soaked into the diaper necessitated another showering off, which I think was his plan all along.

Pseudo-tweed

I have completed a knit! I know, it's incredible.


Bug hat.

One standard roll brim hat with pompom. Anyone know how to make the pompom stay tighter to the hat? I can never get it snug enough.
Anyway.
Roll brim hat in Elann Peruvian Highland Wool, held double, in red and orange. Colors changed at random when I got bored. Some stitch number I don't remember, since I stopped casting on when I got bored. I call it pseudo-tweed because the middle band looks tweedy to me, even though it's only just a strand of red and a strand of orange held together.




What IS this?

One for the Dulaan box, at least four more to go!

Mods: I added two cable repeats at the top, and decreased five of the four-stitch cables to two-stitch cables to tighten up the gap.

Nice pattern, easy to do, and I can't wait to have them for the office.

What a fun scarf, and what soft yarn! I have heard that it's sheddy, but I enjoyed working with it, and with three dogs, who notices a little alpaca floating around? After this knit, I can cable anything without a cable needle!

Jessie is a color genius. This is three skeins of Henry's Attic Andromeda (50/50 wool and silk) she dyed for me when I couldn't find the color of Lion and Lamb I wanted for my aunt's Christmas Clapotis. I haven't taken the picture below yet (it's dark, I'll add the picture tomorrow before I post) but I can guarantee that no piddly amount of camera skills I have will do this yarn justice. I can't freaking wait to knit it.


Sorry for the lack of artistic posing - the Bug was headed for the yarn.

Below, 6 skeins of elann.com Peruvian Highland wool, in rainbow colors. For a Dulaan hat pattern that has been swirling around in my head. Yeah, someone has probably knit it before, but I haven't seen it, so in my reality, I thunk it up all by myself.



Not pictured: the skeins of Knitpicks yarn I ordered on 10/24, that shipped on 10/25. La's opinion notwithstanding, I like Knitpicks yarns. But seriously, do they pick "extra slow" at the post office or what? It shipped on 10/25 according to the website, and it's not here. The Elann.com yarn and A Piece of Vermont (Jessie) yarn both shipped on 10/30, a full FIVE days later, and BOTH of the later packages arrived first. Really, it's my only complaint about knitpicks thus far.
(Okay, after I wrote this post I wound five balls of Andean Silk into center pull balls and strung two with beads. Out of the 10 balls I ordered, three had knots. I think that's a little excessive. Even for cheap yarn.)

After all the new and wonderful yarns, it seems almost anticlimactic to show you Frill.
